Reasons Why Frozen Is Not So Great
This post contains some spoilers, but I guess it doesn't matter since most people have probably already seen the movie.
Frozen...
Someone call the grammar police and fix those sentences! lol
Where do I even begin.
After it was released, I saw how a lot of people couldn't stop talking about how good it was. It was so popular that it became the number one animated film of ALL TIME (It beat Lion King!). I eventually convinced myself to watch it on DVD because of all this hype that occurred for months. (I think the hype has kind of toned down by now). After seeing it I thought, "You have got to be kidding, right? This is the number one animated movie of all time?! This is the movie that people are so hyped about?!" Glad I didn't waste money at the movie theater.
The movie was okay, but not great. I would never consider it as the best animated movie of all time.
In almost every scene there was bad tension. There were not many funny, happy moments and that sucked. I think more funny Olaf scenes would have been better. It seemed like the characters were constantly worried, scared, and especially LONELY. In addition to that, all of that snow and not many colorful scenes set a depressing tone. I wouldn't recommend this movie for little kids, too depressing for them.
Olaf and Sven were my favorite characters. Without these characters, this would have been a BIG EMO movie. The biggest reason why I even decided to watch Frozen was because I wanted to see Olaf. Even though Olaf seemed to be kind of sad, he did have a good sense of humor. I loved his funny gestures.
It took forever to finally meet Olaf. I wish magical talking Olaf appeared a little bit early in the movie. (Do you want to build a snowman? Do you want to build a snowman? Do you want to build a snowman? Just build the snowman already! I want to see Olaf!!).

There was no chemistry between Anna and Kristoff. It seemed more like a "hey help me" type of friendship. It was funny how Kristoff told Anna that she shouldn't marry a guy she just met and yet she quickly fell in love with the next guy, Kristoff.
Some characters were so predictable. For example, Hans, I knew he was a bad guy from the start. He was too nice and something about him just made me feel uneasy. Another example, take a male and female character, put them together, and what do you get from Disney? Two lovebirds. So I obviously knew Anna and Kristoff would become a couple.
Lack of depth. Many of the characters lacked personalities and individual histories. It felt like they were just randomly thrown into the movie. There was not much connection between them. The songs seemed to be long and the plot happened so fast. Elsa runs away, Anna falls in love, they all sing a couple of songs ladeedahdeedah, Elsa comes back. The end.
As a result, the movie left so many questions unanswered. For example, how did Elsa get her powers? It has been said she was born with it. So was it really genetic? From who did she get it? Etc.
Hmm the songs the songs the songs...
The best song was in the beginning of the movie. I don't know the exact name of it, but it happened when a group of men were cutting ice. After that, the songs kind of became mediocre.
I think the BIGGEST reason why the movie became so popular was because of this ONE SONG.
Let it go!! Let it goooooo!!!!!
That's right, I'm talking about "Let It Go."
"For the First Time In Forever" and "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" were okay songs, but "Let It Go"...Omg..I don't want to be super mean, but that song was so annoying. It didn't give that great feeling of empowerment (at least to me). Just another Broadway style song. I didn't like the singer's voice (sorry). Even the talking voice didn't seem to fit Elsa. Maybe it would have been better if a younger woman played the voice of Elsa.

The Lion King and Tangled were much better. Both had a more comprehensible plot. Both had better songs. Also, maybe I like Lion King because I'm a 90's kid :P
A couple of websites stated that Frozen and Lion King were literally the same. Most of them compared Elsa to Simba.
HUH?!
The word "literally"...do the website authors even know what it means?

The Lion King and Frozen are NOT literally the same. Maybe they share some similarities, but they are not exactly the same. Here are a few reasons why:
-Simba was the main character, Elsa was not.
-Simba was the main character, Elsa was not.
-Anna, Kristoff, and Elsa were orphans, Simba and Nala were not.
-Both Elsa and Simba ran away from their kingdom. However, Scar told Simba to run away. No one told Elsa to run away.
-Simba and Elsa did not run away for the same reason. Simba ran away because he thought it was his fault his dad was killed. Elsa ran away because her secret was out.
-Simba came back to save the kingdom by willpower. Elsa was forced to come back to her kingdom. She didn't want to go back.
-Simba was the hero, Elsa was not. Anna was the actual hero in Frozen.
-Elsa's kingdom deteriorated before and after she ran away. Simba's kingdom deteriorated only after he ran away. Things sucked when Elsa froze the kingdom. Simba didn't ruin his kingdom while he was there. Unlike Elsa, he was missed after he ran away.

-The two movies don't convey the same message. The Lion King is like the story of Hamlet where evil never triumphs. Frozen is based off of Snow Queen where love wins over everything.

I guess I can deal with the fact that many people love Frozen, but I still don't think it should be considered the greatest animated movie of all time because of one song and its blurry storyline.
What did you think of Frozen? Did you like it? Feel free to leave a comment below.
