Church Is Not a Fashion Critic Place
Sometimes I hear church gossip stories like "Omg that girl wore the same dress last Sunday" or "That lady never wears nice fancy clothes" or "That skirt was sooo last year" or "Her hair always looks messed up."
Umm.. Wtf.
Church should not be a place where you go and analyze people and then judge their fashion. Church is a place where you're suppose to pray to God.
I'll admit it... In the past I constantly felt pressured to look very good for church every Sunday. I wore full makeup, straightened my hair, wore heels, etc. Sometimes I didn't feel comfortable, but I still kept on dressing up because I was afraid of getting criticized of how I would look without all of that. Then I finally realized, "what's the point?". Nobody was really going to take a picture of me. There was also no one to really impress. Sometimes it took me two or three hours to get ready for a one hour mass. All of that hard work of trying to look good for nothing.
On church occasions like Christmas, Easter, weddings, and baptisms it makes sense to dress up, but other than that there's no point.
Now I wear simple clothes, minimum amount of makeup, and I wear my hair up a lot. I also don't wear jewelry a lot.
I recycle my clothes. I sometimes wear old pants to church that I bought three years ago. I don't care. I feel comfortable in those pants.
I get that some people don't pay attention at church and decide to look at other people, but they shouldn't be so judgmental about small, stupid things.
I'm not exactly saying that people judge others at church. They judge them outside of church and then the gossip spreads like wildfire.

Peace.
