It's not his job to make you happy.
I still go to college and last week in my summer class, I watched a video about marriage and divorce. In the video, a lady talked about her marriage life. She thought that marriage life was going to be the "wonderful" life. She thought that the husband was going to make her happy by paying more attention to her than his career. However, it did not turn out to be completely like that. Her husband became busy with work. So she wanted a divorce.
This perception of thinking that "it's somebody's job to make you happy" is what many people follow and that's a problem...
This made me think of something...
Before finding your significant other, before even dating, you should MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY FIRST. Honey, your partner is not going to make you happy ALL the time. I will be honest, I'm at the stage where I am still finding myself. I'm also not the most confident person in the world, but I still manage to make myself happy in the simplest things like drawing and singing.
I've heard of this phrase "find happiness in yourself" before, but it never occurred to me on why the phrase was SO important until now.
I wish I realized this earlier in my life because then I would tell my friends, "Hey, it's not his job to make you happy. You should make yourself happy." Instead of saying that, I usually asked, "Does he make you happy?" Ugh :(
And another thing, some people set such high expectations in relationships. It's ridiculous. I'm not even married and I don't expect marriage to be so wonderful lol.
